Analysis and Explanation

Since the Absolution Tour in 2003, Intro has been played before almost every performance of Apocalypse Please, with the band clapping to rhythm of the studio version's stomping before leading into the start of Apocalypse Please.

While the song is usually just played back from tape live, some variation has taken place. During certain performances of the song in 2007 when it was mentioned (short) on the setlist, there was no tape of the studio version of Intro. Instead the band would either do the clapping/drumming themselves unaccompanied, or on rare occasions it was skipped entirely and the band just went straight into the start of the song (like in Tokyo in January 2007 for example). When Apocalypse Please returned for two performances in 2023, the drumming during Intro was played by touring Dan Lancaster instead of Dom.
