Los Angeles Hollywood Bowl
One of the most iconic venues of its kind, Hollywood Bowl is an outdoor amphitheatre and public park, located in the Hollywood Hills area of Los Angeles, California. It can accomodate between 17,500 and 18,000 spectators and is home to the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and the summer home to the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. The venue is owned and operated by the County of Los Angeles. In 2023, the venue was listed into the National Register of Historic Places. Due to its popularity and iconic design, the Hollywood Bowl made appearances in many films and TV shows, like "A Star Is Born", "Columbo", "Tom and Jerry in the Hollywood Bowl" and more.
The Hollywood Bowl officially opened in 1922, being built on a popular picnic spot in Bolton Canyon, chosen for its natural acoustics and its proximity to downtown Hollywood. It began as a community space rather than a privately owned establishment with proceeds from early events financing constructon of new elements such as the stage and seating, all built throughout the early 1920s. The Bowl is perhaps most known for its distinct band shells, featuring the famous arched roof, used to improve acoustics. The L.A. Philarmonic Orchestra named the Bowl's concert stage after famous composer, John Williams.
Through its history, the Hollywood Bowl paid host to a variety of events, including Native American tribal events, performances by ensembles like the afforementioned L.A. Philarmonic and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestras, various ballet and opera performances, and concerts. In the 1950s, it hosted an event called Jazz at the Philharmonic, featuring Neil Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Art Tatum and Oscar Peterson. In the 1960s, The Beatles played two times ('64 and '65), resulting in a live album called "The Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl". In the 1980s, Monty Python's performance was released under its name of "Monty Python Live at the Hollywood Bowl". Other acts that performed at the venue include The Jackson 5, Elton John, Billie Eilish, Avicii (who was the first EDM artist to headline the venue), The Who (with their Hollywood Bowl concert being the first after John Entwistle's death), Linkin Park (performing a Chester Bennington Tribute Concert in 2017), Van Halen and more.
Muse will be playing, and concluding, their U.S. leg of The Wow! Signal Tour, on August 31st, 2026. They will be supported by Portugal. The Man and The Temper Trap.
