Glastonbury Tragedy For Muse

Muse were hit by tragedy a short time after completing their triumphant headlining set at the last night of this year’s Glastonbury Festival, when the father of drummer Dominic Howard died of a heart attack.

The band had completed what they described as “the best set of their lives” topping the bill on the Pyramid Stage on the Sunday night (June 27) of the three day event in Somerset when Dominic Howard’s father Bill Howard collapsed follwing [sic] a serious heart attack.

The 62 year old was taken to the nearby medical centre at 1.15am but died shortly after arriving. Police are not treating the death as suspicious.

A message on Muse’s official website www.muse.mu reads;

“It is with great sadness that we must announce that Mr Bill Howard, father of Muse drummer, Dominic, died earlier today (Monday June 28) at the Glastonbury Festival, a short time after the band’s headlining set.

“In this dreadfully difficult time, we request that the privacy of Dom’s family and friends is respected whist our sincere and heartfelt sympathy extends to Dominic and the Howard family.”

Muse have cancelled their scheduled show in Bergarno in Italy tomorrow (Wednesday June 30) but have yet to make a decision about canceling any other shows on their forthcoming European tour.
