The Warning

The Warning are a Mexican rock band, originating from the city of Monterrey, Nuevo León. The band was formed in 2013, and consists of three Villarreal Vélez sisters; Daniela (guitar, piano, lead vocals), Alejandra (bass, piano, backing vocals) and Paulina (drums, piano, lead & backing vocals). The sisters decided to form a band at about the age of 7, after all training on various instruments during their childhood. They rose to prominence through YouTube, posting covers by various known rock acts (including Muse).

After gaining notice with Metallica's Enter Sandman video, they decided to seek a record label deal, starting a succesful GoFundMe campaign to record their six-album EP, called "Escape the Mind", released in 2015. During that time, the band also appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Their first LP was released in 2017, and is called "XXI Century Blood". At this time, the band supported The Killers in Monterrey. In 2018, they released their second album, "Queen of the Murder Scene". Their most recent album, "Error", was released in 2022.

Throughout their career, the band has said multiple times that they are massive fans of Muse and how big of an influence they are on them, since they are a trio, just like them, and seeing that it's possible to be a 3-piece band inspired them. A dream of theirs was opening or/and collaborating with them.[1]

The Warning ended up supporting Muse during the Mexican leg of the Will of the People World Tour in January 2023, playing in Monterrey, Guadalajara and two dates in Mexico City.[2] One of the band's managers revealed during an interview that Muse originally wanted The Pretty Reckless to support them during the Mexico dates, but they declined. The band caught wind of this and thus contacted Muse's management to enquire about them playing instead. Dom (who is apparently in charge of selecting the support acts) agreed and thus the band were selected to support Muse.[3] Following these four shows, the band supported Muse again during five dates of the European leg, these being; Plymouth, Lyon, Huddersfield, Glasgow and Milton Keynes. Matt also gifted Daniela a yellow Manson Oryx guitar which she used live to play their song "MONEY" during their Milton Keynes set.[4] The band have since stated, during their 10th anniversary video, that the biggest moment in their career, so far, was opening for Muse.[5]
