Clarkston Pine Knob Music Theatre
Pine Knob Music Theatre, previously known as DTE Energy Music Theatre, is an outdoor music venue located in Clarkston, Independence Township, Michigan, approximately 40 miles north of Detroit. Named after the nearby Pine Knob Ski Resort, the venue opened in 1972, and was designed by Neumann/Smith and built by Joe Locricchio. It has a total capacity of 15,040 with 6,968 pavillion spots and 8,072 lawn spots. At the time of its opening, the capacity of 12,500 made it the largest amphitheater in the United States.
Concerts that were held at the venue include singer-songwriter Eddie Money, who opened the Knob's concert season every May for 20 years, between 1989 and 2009, exception being the year '95. In 2014, Chicago performed at the amphitheater 82 times with Bob Seger also performing more than 33 sold-out shows at the venue, prompting the venue's change of address after his death in 2019 from "7774 Sashabaw Road" to "33 Bob Seger Drive". Bob Dylan also played 9 shows between 1981 and 2000 while Dave Matthews Band performed 17 times since 2006. In 1996 and 1997, the venue hosted the Warped Tour, with The Family Values Tour, Ozzfest and Reggae Sunsplash being some of the other touring festivals which stopped at the Pine Knob.
Muse played at the venue once in 2004, and set to return in 2026. The first time, the band supported The Cure on their Curiosa tour with Interpol, The Rapture and Mogwai. They're set to play a headlining show at the Knob on July 13th, 2026, as part of The Wow! Signal North American Tour, supported by Bloc Party and The Temper Trap.
