Oslo Oslo Spektrum
Oslo Spektrum is a multi-purpose arena/amphitheatre in Oslo, Norway. The venue, designed by LPO Arkitektkontor AS, opened in 1990[1] and has a capacity for anywhere between 6,500 and 10,500 people.[1] It is owned and operated by Norges Varemesse (Norwegian Trade Fair in English) and is known for hosting a variety of events, including the annual Nobel Peace Prize Concert, the Norwegian Idol finals and the Norwegian Music Awards, the so called Spellemannsprisen.
When the arena opened it was Norway's largest indoor arena, with the initial capacity of 9,700 and was succeeded in capacity by both Vallhall Arena and Telenor Arena. In 2017, work began on plans for renovating and expanding the arena, with a new congress centre being built with 20,000 additional square metres of space and 3,000 seats. The development project is scheduled to start in 2020. The existing arena's capacity will be expanded by 1,700 extra seats.
Some of the artists who have performed at the arena include Toto, Frank Sinatra, Tina Turner, Diana Ross, Rammstein, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Janet Jackson, Lana Del Rey and more. The arena has also hosted the 1996 Eurovision Song Contest.
