Bull and Gate

Hello, first of all thanks for adding the info that you did.

Could you say with certainty that the gig you're thinking of happened in 1995 and not 1997? There are conflicting statements from Muse regarding the order in which the Bull and Gate gigs occurred. Is this from your own first hand memory or through a secondary source?

The band used to say that the first gig (1995) was for friends and payed for by themselves and the second (1997) was a regular gig, however in later recollections (only 2008 IIRC) Matthew Bellamy recalled the first one as being the "proper" one with no attendees (which turned out to be only their manager) and he "thought" they made sure the next time (1997) they brought along some friends.

This is of course assuming there were only one concert in 1995 and one concert in 1997 at the Bull and Gate, with none in the surrounding years. This is an argument from ignorance, in that the old Muse gig database may have left out some gigs due to incomplete memories (thus absense of positive evidence may not be evidence of absense).

Any further elaborations would be grand. --Tene 12:37, 4 June 2008 (BST)

The gig happened in 95. I was there. I have a list of all the gigs I've been to but I've only got the year not the exact date. The next gig I saw was The Muffs, Honeycrack and Dr Bison at the Underworld which I found was on 4th July. Given that I'd already been to 12 gigs that year, I don't think the gig was in February. I'm trying to find dates for the other gigs before that one but I can't find anything yet.
As I recall, Lockjaw (Tribute's record label) invited Muse to play with them because they were interested in signing them. Muse did have a healthy following with them and the noise certainly died down when The Few came on in their parkas.--Gbsteve 13:08, 4 June 2008 (BST)
Thanks very much :) That Lockjaw titbit is certainly interesting. I'll have to go over the overall history of the period and correct some false assumptions sometime soon. I'll look forward to the date! You don't by any chance have any photographs or scannable memorabilia from the gig do you? :P --Tene 14:11, 4 June 2008 (BST)
I don't have any reminders I'm afraid. I didn't have a ticket because I was on the Tribute guest list. I was about the same age as their Mum and we got talking at a previous gig and she subbed me a place. You could try talking to Lockjaw or Tribute for further info, they're still going. --Gbsteve 14:42, 4 June 2008 (BST)
Okay, I doubt Lockjaw will still have a record of it, but it's worth a try. Thanks again. --Tene 09:15, 5 June 2008 (BST)
Actually, looking at Lockjaw's official website, they claim to have only been going since 1997.... --Tene 09:30, 5 June 2008 (BST)
Lockjaw is run by the parents of the members of Tribute to Nothing who have been going longer. I'll email them and ask them. --Gbsteve 16:24, 5 June 2008 (BST)
I've recieved an enthusiastic response from the label's manager. He offered to dig some more information if we needed it. Will analyse the letter sometime soon. --Tene 14:55, 6 June 2008 (BST)
