Information

Bridge Over Water is a cover of a Simon & Garfunkel song of the same name.

Bellamy's version was, presumably, released prematurely by accident, on September 11th, 2020, on Spotify and YouTube, as it has been deleted from them during the next day. It's official release date has been announced by Bellamy on social media. It's set to be released on September 18th, 2020.

Belamy's Bridge Over Troubled Water came two years after he said he'd love to cover it.

Additional Information

Matt's cover is simple in instrumentation, only featuring an acoustic guitar, an organ and a keyboard. Bellamy excluded the third verse, which appears in the original, starting with the line "Sail on Silver Girl...".

This is the first cover by a different artist outside of Muse, released under Bellamy's own name.

Lyrics

When you're weary and feeling small. When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all, all. I'm on your side, oh, when times get rough and friends just can't be found.

Like a bridge over troubled water I will lay me down. Like a bridge over troubled water I will lay me down.

When you're down and out, when you're on the street. When evening falls so hard I will comfort you. I'll take your path, oh, when darkness comes and pain is all around.

Like a bridge over troubled water I will lay me down. Like a bridge over troubled water I will lay me down.
