Based on Chopin's Op. 25 No. 12 (also known as Ocean) Etude.
Both Howard and Bellamy supported the "New Born-esque" nature of the song in a sense that the song features heavy distorted guitar on one side and heavy bass on another side of the stereo image, a technique they used on Origin of Symmetry for getting a huge distorted stereo sound.

This song, alongside other yet unreleased songs, was leaked in a series of short 20 second video clips showing the vinyl player.

Description

Described by Bellamy as a "New Born" like song, confirmed to be on the album in an interview with Beats 1 following the release of " Something Human" in July of 2018.

Both Howard and Bellamy supported the "New Born-esque" nature of the song in a sense that the song features heavy distorted guitar on one side and heavy bass on another side of the stereo image, a technique they used on Origin of Symmetry for getting a huge distorted stereo sound.

The melody is based on Chopin's Op. 25 No. 12 (also known as Ocean) Etude.

This song, alongside other yet unreleased songs, was leaked in a series of short 20 second video clips showing the vinyl player. The full version was leaked a day earlier.

Additional information

The song that old-school Muse fans would like, drawing influences from 80s hard rock, Chopin and older Muse works.

The drums and some beats of the song has been compared to Map of the Problematique, the synths to Bliss, and the guitar solo to the Reapers one.

It's also been compared to MK Ultra and The Small Print.

In a 2019 clip by Muse, Matt said this song, and Something Human, were the two songs the band spent the most time working on and correcting throughout the entire process. He also said the song was one of the "few songs recorded in London", probably the song Matt reffered to as the "heavy song" when they were stopped outside Air studios during the first Simulation Theory recording/writing sessions.[1]

Lyrics

The truth is that when I am killing in order to survive

I have never felt so alive I am always seeking to live and die on the edge Life is a broken simulation I'm unable to feel I'm searching for something that's real I am always seeking to see what's behind the veil

Trapped in a maze of unseen walls These blockades must fall

Crush, crush Raze and rush Seize and fight for your life Smash, test Beat the best Fight for your life You've been summoned now

I never sleep or rest but I'm still running out of time I have sacrificed all of my life The time has come to To prove to you what I'm worth

Trapped in a maze of endless walls These blockades must fall

Crush, crush Raze and rush Seize, fight for your life Smash, test Beat the best Fight for your life You've been summoned now

Crush, crush Raze and rush Seize, fight for your life Smash, test Beat the best Fight for your life You've been summoned now
