Description
The most popular Muse cover, and covered because of Matt's ex-girlfriend's liking of the song. Originally believed to be released as a b-side, the band stated in mid-2000 it was going to be placed on an EP. It instead made the album, surprising many at the time, and wound up being released as a single.

The song was used by Nescafé for their advertisement but without the band's permission. The band denied them the use of the song because they didn't believe in having their music used to advertise supermarket products. Nescafé withdrew that version for a different version. Muse were subsequently paid £500,000 of settlement money, which they donated to Oxfam.

In an interview with Rocksound Magazine, Bellamy stated that "our interpretation is quite different from the original, but nowhere near as good. I chose it because it’s got brilliant lyrics, and it fits in with some of the other songs on the album. It’s about becoming you – getting rid of your past and thinking about leading a new life. I just want people to know that underlying what I do is something positive, and that I’m not here to kill myself or to destroy the situation we live in.”

In Taratata part 2, the host tells Matt that he has heard that Matt's mother likes the song. Bellamy replies with "loves the song."

"Feeling Good" was written by Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse for the musical "The Roar of the Greasepaint - The Smell of the Crowd", though was made famous when performed by the legendary jazz artist Nina Simone.

Matt stated that the song for him it's about "Looking to the future with hope" he also said in another interview: "The music is very dark and moody but as plain text the lyrics are just a cheesy, happy poem, just so amazingly positive, and It can make you feel like there's really something worth fighting for. It is depressing but it’s almost like humanity singing about how good things could be"

Composition
Feeling Good is written in the key of G minor. It moves in 12/8 time at a slow tempo of 72 bpm.

Bellamy's vocal range spans from F3 to F5. The song contains his highest note in the modal register, B♭4, which is shared with Unnatural Selection, Futurism, Madness, Survival and Big Freeze.

Feeling Good (XX Anniversary RemiXX)
On May 19th, 2021, it was announced that Muse will be releasing a remixed and remastered version of Origin of Symmetry, titled "Origin of Symmetry (XX Anniversary RemiXX)". This was released on June 18th, 2021.

The remix is not hugely different to the original overall, but some notable changes were made, the most notable of which is the strings during the second and fourth verses are much more prominent in the mix compared to the original. Other minor alterations include slightly less bass distortion during the second and fourth verses, the double bass during the third verse having more presence, the piano having more reverb applied, and the drums during the outro being mixed louder.

Additional information
In live performances, Matt sings the third verse through a megaphone.

The song has been used in various forms of media. See more about this here.

A live version of Feeling Good was released online as the only single from H.A.A.R.P. in 2008, as the track was not included on the H.A.A.R.P. CD itself.

Alternative versions
A radio edit of "Feeling Good" with clean vocals on the third verse and can be found on the second UK "Hyper Music/Feeling Good" promo CD (catalogue number 'MUSE 19'). An isolation of the drum, bass and keyboard feeds from the H.A.A.R.P. show features in the audio setup section of the H.A.A.R.P. DVD. It was first played live as a guitar version in the BBC session in 1999 (also known as "different take session").

Live
This cover of the Anthony Newely & Leslie Bricusse song, made famous by Nina Simone, was commonly played live between 2000 and 2003, but wasn't played between Laugardalshöll 2003 and Southside Festival 2006 with the exception of one 2004 gig in Tokyo. It was once again played regularly live from 2006 until 2010. The song was played only 3 times in 2011 and not at all in 2012. The song saw a resurgence during the last part of The 2nd Law Tour. It was not included in any setlists for the Psycho UK tour but did reappear for the Asian leg of the Drones World Tour with a few sporadic gigs during 2015 and 2016. Feeling Good has yet to be played from 2017 onwards, and considering the lack of piano songs in more modern setlists, it's unlikely the song will return anytime soon.

After working on new Acoustic material, Matt decided it was time to have a custom Manson acoustic guitar designed for him based on the "Mattocaster" Shape. It was designed and built by Hugh Manson's brother, Andy, a specialist in acoustic design.
It appears that 6-in-line style headstocks were initially designed and built to match Matt’s electrics, but at some point in the building process these were changed to 3-a-side. Unless there were more acoustic guitars built by Andy that we haven’t seen in the wild. It’s been reported by someone who visited Andy’s workshop in July 2023 (picking up a mandolin Andy had built) that Matt always has 2 instruments built - one for each continent or rig A/B and also a backup - so there’s possibly 4 Manson acoustics out there.

The guitar appears to be thinner than Matt's previous non-Manson acoustic guitars, probably for easier playability live.

In 2019, Matt got two new guitars built for back-up purposes.

Touring
The Manson Acoustic got it's first live outing at the Orlando gig in 2017, and was only used for Undisclosed Desires during that year.

Later, in 2018, with the release of Simulation Theory, this guitar was used for live performances of Something Human and a performance of Dig Down's Acoustic Gospel version at the Jools Holland Show.

During the Simulation Theory World Tour in 2019, the guitar was only used for Propaganda, as the band dropped Something Human from tour sets and Dig Down's acoustic version features Matt on a piano.
The show
Despite it being a non-festival gig, Muse played their festival style setlist. They also used the similar festival production, with the shorter b-stage, less elaborate staging and lighting, and the absence of the moving light/mirrors at the top of the stage, any lighting effects on the stage floor /runaway, and the notable absence of the Baph inflatable for the encore. Dom revealed via an Instagram comment that the shortened setlist was due to the band only being allotted an hour and a half instead of the usual two hours., while the venue & promoters contradicted this when a justifiably disgruntled fan contacted them.

Heavy rain fell throughout almost the whole show, leaving both the crowd and band members drenched.
Streamers were launched during Compliance, and pyros were used throughout- but neither of these helped to dry off the crowd.
Background
The Alloy 7 String guitar appeared on the "Making of" DVD for The 2nd Law, recording Supremacy. In 2012, Matt wanted a 7 string Mattocaster guitar with an alloy top allthough at this point, he didn't aim for a specific weight, so the guitar was built without weight as a consideration (his later guitars used for tours, including the Manson Black 7 String, were requested to match a certain weight and thus were modified).

This was one of six Manson guitars created by Hugh Manson for Bellamy in 2012. This guitar has no Kaoss pad controller and does not seem to have any additional electronics, which is a departure from Matt's Resistance-era guitars.

This guitar is also the first 7 string that Matt has custom ordered from Manson Guitars (the 7 String E Guitar was originally not built for him, and the Black 7 String appears to have been built and delivered afterwards, with previously mentioned weight mods.

The guitar was never used live, likely due to it not matching any weight specs.
Part of the Will of the People World Tour.

Information
Announced 19 August, pre-ordering the new album from the UK or European Official Stores before Wednesday 24 August at 12pm BST gained first access to pre-sale tickets. General on sale tickets became available Friday 26 August at 9AM BST.

Muse were supported by Twin Atlantic and The Warning.

The show
Despite it being a non-festival gig, for reasons unknown, Muse played a festival set, to the dismay of many fans.
The stage production was also considerably reduced, with the exclusion of the Baph inflatable for the latter songs, a lack of screens and lighting on the Will/Mask prop and a shorter runway at the front of the stage.

Muse took to the stage just after 9:20pm, it’s entirely unclear why they had a later and shorter set compared to the rest of the WotP tour.
It rained for almost the entire show, resulting in a soaking wet band and drenched crowd.

Many fans felt let down by not only the shortened Setlist but also the very safe and generic Setlist - usually Muse treat Glasgow fans to an old or fan-favourite song, breaking years of tradition, especially disappointing that it’s the first time Muse played Glasgow in 7 years, since the Drones tour.
Background
This was officially announced by Manson's via their social media a few days after the Will of the People Tour kicked off, described as "a classic design with a few Manson refinements and some custom pickups."

It's a prototype built specifically for the WotP tour, so we may see tweaks and other versions appear soon as it goes on the road.
The MB-S is loosely based on the Manson S-Type, (built by Hugh Manson in the '90s) , but with a modern headstock & contemporary Mason logo, and very closely resembles a Fender Stratocaster, but with the body area behind the bridge more closely akin to a Fender Duo-Sonic or Fender Lead I/II/III.

This new design is likely due to Matt using various Strats over the years on tour and in the studio, most recently the eye-catching Fender Aluminium Stratocaster for the Pyscho and Drones tours respectively.

Much like the Oryx #1/#2/#3, it's another significant departure from the classic MB Shape in the "new era of Manson". Notably as it's a second new shape built for Matt in the short time since the WotP Era began.

This and the Oryx could be the start of Matt having totally new and different guitars built by Manson's (being majority shareholder of MGW) and exploring all sorts of new shapes and designs, with hope for future production runs that the public can purchase.

Matthew Bellamy owns more than 50 Manson guitars, of which all were built by Hugh Manson (before 2009) except the Mirror Kaoss, Doubleneck, Keytar and Matt Black II and many more, which were built by Tim Stark. Hugh still makes guitars for Matt, but nowadays, most of the work is done by head luthier at Manson Guitar Works, Tim Stark. All of the guitars built for Bellamy, aside from the 7 String E Guitar, have a shape that he designed alongside Hugh Manson in 2001, dubbed Mattocaster or MB shape. The Mattocaster shape resulted from Bellamy wanting a guitar with "the body of a Fender Telecaster and the sound of a Gibson Les Paul". Ron Joyce, Hugh's friend and electronic designer/engineer, also plays a big role in achieving the sound, as he designs, engineers and builds all the tech found in Matt's custom guitars.

As of June of 2019, Bellamy became the majority shareholder of Manson Guitar Works. He mentioned that in the following months and years, he and the team at Manson will actively investigate new products for heavier music genres (incl. 7 string guitars) and explore enchanced electronic features to evolve the guitar into the modern era of sound. He also mentioned the release of lower cost Manson guitars, the then named "M-Series" and now named MBM-1 Meta Series (see below).

Glasgow Jam was played for the first time 7 years, replacing Munich Jam. Like the last time it was played in 2009, it featured Calum Taylor on bagpipes. This time however, it was also accompanied by Scottish Highland dancers. Towards the end of the jam, Matt walked onstage waving a large Scottish flag before throwing it into the audience at the end. kZMz1kZ14Oc
They also dropped Madness out of the setlist for the first time on the tour.
This was the first gig that Matt used the Manson Xenokroma Bomber.
It is very likely that this guitar is a Fender Custom Shop model. It is very similar to the Custom Shop Master Built Aluminium Hydroform Stratocaster built by Scott Buehl, allthough Matt's guitar has a chrome/mirror pickguard.

Similar to his Manson’s guitars, it’s probable that there are 2 Rigs for touring certain parts of the world, there are likely 2 models of this guitar. The original Ali Mirror Strat used on the Psycho Tour and Drones World Tour featured a larger Headstock, it’s possible that there is a duplicate guitar or the neck was replaced at some point.

The guitar was first seen used by Bellamy in 2015 and was used live up until 2017.

The Aluminium Strat has also been seen in the studio during the making of Simulation Theory. It was likely used on Break It to Me due to the distinct neck pick up sound, and a couple other songs off of the album.

Touring
Matthew Bellamy first used this Fender Stratocaster extensively on the Psycho UK Tour and the Psycho US Tour in early 2015, debuting live in Belfast. After a period of assumed inactivity, this guitar returned to the stage for the The Drones World Tour 2015/16, with the low E string tuned down to A for The Globalist on which it was used to it's last performance in 2017

The Aluminium Strat was marked "6" by Matt's guitar tech.
It was only used once for Knights of Cydonia at the Newport Centre on the Psycho UK Tour's third night. Likely required as a backup guitar for that song, or Matt tried using it for one gig, but the whammy bar system wasn't as versatile as the Floyd Rose requires for Knights.
Fender Musical Instruments Corporation (most commonly known simply as Fender) is one of the most popular stringed instrument brands in the world. Founded in 1946 in Fullerton, California, by Leo Fender, their first product included a lapsteel guitar, made in 1946, followed by a Telecaster (originally named Broadcaster), a P-Bass (Precision Bass) and the Stratocaster, all unveiled in the 1950s. Other famous Fender guitar models include the J-Bass (Jazz Bass), Jazzmaster, Jaguar and Mustang. The company is also known for producing amplifiers, effects pedals, guitar parts and accessories and various soundsystems such as IEMs and bluetooth speakers.

Fender is a private corporation, currently located in Scottsdale, Arizona with Andy Mooney serving as the CEO. Acquired in the 1960s, Fender also owns Squier, a much older, former guitar, banjo and violin manufacturer, now producing Fender's budget lines and alternatives, aswell as Bigsby, Jackson, Charvel and Gretsch.

Through the years, both Chris and Matt have used Fender guitars and amps due to their distinct sounds and continue to use them for certain songs and sounds, despite both having signature guitar and bass models.
This was officially announced by Manson's via their social media a few days after the Will of the People Tour kicked off, described as "a classic design with a few Manson refinements and some custom pickups."

It's a prototype built spcifically for the WotP tour, so we may see tweaks and other versions appear soon.
The MB-S very closely resembles a Fender Stratocaster, of which Matt has used various Strats over the years on tour and in the studio, most recently the eye-catching Fender Aluminium Stratocaster for the Pyscho and Drones tours respectively.

Much like the Oryx #1/#2/#3, it's another significant departure from the classic MB Shape, notably as it's a second new shape built for Matt in the short time since the WotP Era began.

Information
Black Holes and Revelations is Muse's fourth studio album, released three years after previous album Absolution, in July 2006. The album is less classically orientated than Origin of Symmetry and Absolution, while introducing new influences including jazz, soul and R&B. The album contains elements of these genres. The varied influences on the album can be traced to the intial demos and recording made in the Château Miraval studio and the later recordings in New York City, Matt also said in another interview: " It [The 50's] was an era of worldwide tension, of nuclear fear and of war. Today, we’ve come back to this feeling, like at the end of a cycle. There’s even been a rise in the interest in space. This theme, the connection between current tensions and those from long ago, can really be heard on the album"

Matt said that the songs in the album are told from different person's Point Of View: "This time, it is a bit about struggling with various contrarities of life, but from a different person's view, not from mine. It is about the fear of who or what is ruling the world. It is about trust and about not losing track in this tangle. Maybe it is about a person struggling his way through this chaos." It isn't known what surfaced from this session, although it is likely the songs from this session were among the many that were scrapped.

Bellamy approached Costey in regards to producing their next album during the Absolution tour. Costey followed this up by contacting Bellamy a few months prior to starting the album. The playing of Black Holes and Revelations tracks and its b-sides live in effect started in 2003 with "Take a Bow" being played as a piano interlude after "Citizen Erased".

Recording
The album was written partly before the Absolution Tour, partly during said tour and finished during their time at Miraval Studio, Avatar and Electric Lady Studios. As with Absolution, the time frame was not as large a concern as on the former two albums, hence Muse took their time over recording the album. The freedom also extended into the style of the music they wrote, delving into areas that Muse considered might be risky for other bands, Whilst three of these songs became B-sides, the others were left unfinished or as demos as the band were focused on finishing the eleven album tracks, and later became involved in live performances and recording new material. One of the left over songs, "Soaked", which was completed during the end of the recording process, later emerged. Sixteen other songs have yet to surface, none of which were released on The Resistance or The 2nd Law. To an extent, this can be considered Muse's "lost album".

Matthew Bellamy claimed that had the entire recording process been carried out at Miraval, it would have turned out akin to Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. He described some of the material that they put aside from their time at Miraval as "a little too progressive and symphonic" for the type of album they wanted Black Holes and Revelations to be, and "waffling on the piano, a lot of orchestration". The band had become frustrated during their time at Miraval at the "lack of rock" in their music.

In the Autumn 2005, Muse moved to New York, recording at Avatar and Electric Lady Studios. As well as recording in New York, Muse partook in the lifestyle of the city, which Dominic Howard claims influenced the style and direction of the album, particularly "Supermassive Black Hole". The album's recording finished at Christmas 2005, after which the band moved to London and finished mixing at Sanctuary Townhouse Studios. Whilst recording the band worked on one song at a time, keeping those they liked and scrapping those they disliked. New instrumentation not used on previous recordings include a buchla synthesiser and a trumpet.
Inspiration and style
Inspiration for the album was taken from a wide variety of other artists, from contemporary acts such as Lightning Bolt and Rage Against The Machine, to composer Ennio Morricone and jazz singer Nina Simone. Muse also listened to music in the style of Joe Meek, Kill Bill and Nancy Sinatra. They had also been inspired by Belgian bands such as Millionaire and Evil Superstars.

Bellamy also listened to the style of his father's band, The Tornadoes: "My dad’s music which I'd never listened to before last year – before then, I'd found it uncool – really influenced me."

Bellamy had been living in North Italy for a while and had discovered some old Italian traditional folk songs, Matt explained: "The reason why the trumpets and some of the other stranger instrumentations came in is we didn't hold back in terms of taking a fringe idea to its full extent," describing the resulting sound as 'filmlike'. From living in northern Italy, I became interested in southern Italian music and music from the South of Spain, like flamenco guitar," says Bellamy. "When you hear it, it sounds like the music from the [spaghetti] western films."

Chris commented that the band listened to Islamic radio stations whilst writing the album and the progressive elements of that music influenced songs such as "Assassin".

According to Matt, Storm Thorgerson was inspired by Knights of Cydonia to make the Artwork: "Storm has this thing about Knights Of Cydonia," Bellamy says. "He had this vision of the four horsemen of the apocalypse but they've outgrown their horses. Each is supposed to represent a different ailment of humanity: vanity or greed or paranoia."

Our contemporary apocalyptic horsemen are depicted in suits representing more current ailments of humanity:

Vanity/ Narcissism - a mirrored suit (many mirrors, to see themselves as much as possible),

Greed - a gold suit,

Paranoia/Surveillance - a suit of eyes,

Intolerance/Ignorance- a suit adorned in religious symbols and hierograms.

The fourth horseman also looks like he is wearing blinders on his head, as a horse would, implying narrow vision and refusal to look outwith your own beliefs or at the bigger picture.

The horsemen are also implied to be on Mars, both with the Cydonian region inspiring the closing track, and the band wanted the artwork to be more other-worldly than the original Thorgerson photo, you can also see Earth in the background sky.

Black Holes & Revelations’ artwork is arguably the most thought-provoking album cover to date, with a lot of deeper meanings an subtleties woven in.

The images inside the album booklet include the HAARP installation, M87, papers from Project MKULTRA, and a blue contrail, in reference to the Aurora aircraft.

HAARP is a scientific research project, the goal of which is to study ionosphere. Muse later entitled the live album H.A.A.R.P. after the project. M87 is an elliptical galaxy in Virgo that emits a jet of matter, probably from a supermassive black hole within it, while the blue contrail is a reference to the Aurora aircraft, which some believe is a top-secret hypersonic aircraft that leaves a blue contrail behind it. Project MKULTRA was a CIA project that sought to use chemicals for mind control and interogation, after which Muse entitled the song "MK ULTRA".

Q Magazine offered the table and chairs featured on the front cover as a prize in a competition, in September 2007.He mentioned that in the following months and years, he and the team at Manson will actively investigate new products for heavier music genres (incl. 7 string guitars) and explore enchanced electronic features to evolve the guitar into the modern era of sound. He also mentioned the release of lower cost Manson guitars, the then named "M-Series" and now named MBM-1 Meta Series (see below).
The Manson Chrome Fuzz visually bears resemblance to the Manson Chrome FR, while spec-wise, it's supposed to be identical to the Manson Mirror. The main difference from the Mirror is the paint : the guitar's painted in a lighter Chrome than the Chrome FR and has the same knobs as the Manson Fire Red. It has only been used for Plug in baby so far.

One of the newest Mansons, Bellamy uses a heavily modified version of the Manson Oryx (as confirmed by Manson Guitar Works on their Instagram stories), with fanned frets, painted in all-white (including the neck), used for Won't Stand Down and Kill or be Killed, both off of Will of the People. This also marks the first new Manson guitar in a long time, to be used by Bellamy, which is not off of his signature model range. The Manson Oryx is a guitar line made for former Periphery bassist (mainly), guitarist (occasionally), producer/audio engineer, owner of GetGood Drums and multi-instrumentalist, Adam "Nolly" Getgood.

According to Bellamy, with the guitar having six strings and having a special dropped B tuning, the special fan-fretted fingerboard (being the first fan-fret on a Manson) helps string tension remain solid.

It looks as though a Sustainiac or Fernandez pickup was once installed, or due to be installed but never completed, going by the now removed Sustainiac controls, which can be seen to be partially filled in recent footage from Rock am Ring in June 2022.

Touring
The guitar was first seen in the studio, on Muse's Instagram/TikTok video, showing Bellamy playing Won't Stand Down. It is unknown if the guitar was also used during the recording phase, as the song was recorded in early 2021, about a year prior to the official release of the Oryx.

Live, the guitar uses a special dropped B tuning, and is used for Won't Stand Down. It first appeared on the Exeter Cavern secret gig.
Description
Title track off of the album Will of the People. The song's name has been "officially" leaked on March 14th, 2022 via the JSON output from wontstanddown.muse.mu, which contains basic album info. In late May of 2022, Apple Music began showing the track length of the song in the album playlist, while Amazon set up a release date of June the 1st. The song itself got leaked on May 26th, 2022, while the official release date of the single, being June 1st, was announced a day later.

Will Of The People has previously been teased by Muse through a couple of short clips, on YouTube and Instagram, revealing the album's name. Upon the album announcement, Warner described it as a track that "brings playful provocation to a dystopian glam-rocker"

Instrumentation
The track starts out with a looping choir, built up of layers of Matt Bellamy chanting the line "The Will of the People". The same loop appears throughout the song. The track itself is based around guitar, bass and drums, with some guitar-synth layering, which is especially noticeable during the last part. It also features a lot of "ooh"s and "woah"s throughout the song, aswel as a high-pitched scream, at around 2 minutes and 42 seconds.

The song is similar to the work of Green Day’s Uno, Dos and Tré era, aswel as the Father Of All... era, also bearing some resemblance to Marilyn Manson’s “The Beautiful People”. It’s reminiscent of Muse’s own work such as; Uprising and Psycho, written in the same swing rhytm. It's also been compared to Pressure and New Kind of Kick, having the same "rock'n'roll" feel with the saturated vocals. The song runs in A-Major and at a tempo of 130BPM.

Background
This guitar appeared on the Muse Twitter Account on 9th August 2012. This guitar is Matt's first Manson guitar not to have any internal effects or controllers.

The guitar had to match a specific weight requirement (around 2.4kg) so multiple holes were drilled into the body, neck, hardware to reach the target weight - similar to the rebuilt Manson Mirror 2.0.
This was one of six other Manson guitars created by Hugh Manson for Bellamy in 2012.

The Bridge pickup was changed to a P90 pickup (presumably Manson MBK-1) before the 2012 London Roundhouse gig.

Before the Birmingham gig, it was fitted with a single coil Seymour Duncan pickup in place of the Fernandes Sustainer.

This guitar was replaced by the Manson Matt Black Stealth.

Touring
Although the debut of this guitar was during the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games, the guitar was not actually played. It is quite clear throughout the footage that all instrumentation was mimed, making this also one of the few times Muse have mimed sensibly.
This guitar appeared on the Muse Twitter Account on 9th August 2012. This guitar is, aside from a few others, Matt's first Manson guitar not to have any internal effects or controllers.

This guitar is almost identical in hardware to the Matt Black Stealth LED, except it features a Humbucker Sustainiac Pickup at the neck rather than a single coil.

Rather than a simple LED strip stuck to the outside of the body as a retro-fit on the original LED stealth- the TronCaster features bespoke improved lighting installed by Mansons, the lights are integrated around the edge of the entire guitar including the neck and headstock.
This was very likely achieved by using Laser Wire as opposed to LEDs - which is notably not as bright as LEDs, but gives a cleaner, more subtle look - while still looking great in the dark.
The challenge in finding a suitable light source that doesn’t cause severe interference with the guitar’s signal - and also without incorporating hundreds of LEDs in the body would’ve been tough, but as always, Manson find a way!
It also looks like it is fitted via a slight carve into the front of the body, rather than around the side or stuck into the body like binding would be - requiring minimal routing.

Description
Begins with a guitar riff which uses a pedal note throughout supported by a moving bass line which is continued in the verse. Drum part is rhythmically imitative of the guitar riff. The chorus is heavily chromatic. Both the guitar and vocal parts ascend chromatically, and when it moves out of this chromatic motif the guitar continues to imitate the vocal line melodically. The piece is brought to a close initially with the original guitar riff and then by a variation of the riff but with the same bass line. The song is bookended by 33 randomly overdubbed guitars, which eventually resolve to a B major chord to end the track.

Additional information
When played live, this song was referred to as DES due to a name printed on a set list. DES is the name of the keyboard technician - During the performance of Fillip for Bizarre 1999, there is a problem with the sound (a video of this can be seen here or downloaded here) and at the time, Matt made a beckoning gesture aimed backstage and he is heard saying "Des! Des!". It could also be a reference to DES, an American government cypher which would fit with the apparent cryptographic theme of the album. DES became a backronym for "Dead End Street" when some fans thought it was the title for the new song. The first two lyrics in the chorus are also the first two lyrics in the Radiohead song "My Iron Lung".

Matt first referred to this song in his October message on the Official messaged board stating that "the 33 randomised guitar overdubs on the church of sub genius ... have high chance of making it [on to Black Holes and Revelations]", Church of the SubGenius being the song's pre-release title.

It was included on the Japanese version of Black Holes and Revelations as an extra incentive to buy as Japanese albums are more expensive. It is also featured on the Invincible 7". Glorious also happens to be the only known Muse B-side to have its own promo singles printed.

It was also included as a Bonus Track to Black Holes and Revelations on U.S. iTunes.

Live
Glorious was the first song from the Black Holes and Revelations era to be played live as well as the first to be dropped from setlists. It was only played a handful of times in 2004 and just once in 2005. This song is probably the only instance of a Muse song where the majority of the song's performances were in Canada.

Dom revealed that he would like to see the song performed live again but he has not been able to convince Matt: "I want to play Glorious and Matt is always like ‘fuck off’..."<ref>
Both guitars feature the old Manson logo.

The YES/NO switch sits in place of the tone control knob.
This was previously thought to be an on/off switch to control the rumoured integrated whammy control on the Patented MID1 Manson, this pitch shift effect was instead achieved by using the Floyd Rose with the Sustainiac on Harmonic mode
The YES/NO switch simply reverses the kill switch functionality. This means the guitar is 'muted' and flicking the killswitch on the top horn activates the guitar signal when switched to "NO". This is bypassed and the killswitch functions as normal when set to "YES".

Bellamy & pianos
The piano was the first instrument Bellamy really played:
"I didn’t have any lessons, and though I tinkered with it since I was five, I didn’t really get interested until I was ten or 11. I used to work on my left hand to “What’d I Say” (Ray Charles) in sort of this boogie-woogie style. I spent ages working that out, practicing the left hand doing one thing and trying to do chords with the right hand."

Since the recording of Sunburn, the majority of Muse's songs have been drafted on piano by Bellamy:
"I find it easy to find interesting chords on the piano. Especially because on a lot of stuff we do, the guitar and bass are harmonizing."
"Even a song like Stockholm Syndrome was written on piano."

However, on an early TV performance of Sunburn, the band brought in someone else to play the piano part and Bellamy played the guitar (although he later complained that the player was rubbish and got the notes wrong), as Bellamy didn't learn to sing whilst playing the keyboard until the end of the Showbiz era.

This was also when the band began putting an emphasis on more complex, classically-influenced piano-based tracks such as Space Dementia.

Bellamy's Live Keyboard Rig
During the Origin of Symmetry tour, Bellamy used Korg SG Stage Piano or a Roland Juno 60 or a Yamaha P80 . This allowed the acoustic piano sounds and electronic/synth sounds (e.g in Space Dementia's chorus) to be routed to their own individual amplifiers.

On the Absolution tour, he used a Kawai MP9500 stage piano. It was mounted on a metal mesh podium nicknamed "The Dalek" which featured LED displays which could be synchronized to the MIDI output from the keyboard and the stage's visuals. For synth sounds two Roland JP-8000s were controlled using MIDI from the Kawai Keyboard and run through Fender Deville Amps to add color & dirt to the sound.

Since the release of Black Holes and Revelations, Morgan Nicholls has become a staple fixture of live performances, with his own keyboard rig, used to replicate the synthesisers used on albums without the need for excessive backing tracks (see below). In addition, Bellamy has updated his own live setup. He now uses a Kawai MP-8 digital stage piano mounted, during the first tour in support of Black Holes and Revelations, in a white, custom made upright piano case built by Vale Pianos. Bellamy sits at this to play piano-based songs such as New Born (intro), Citizen Erased (coda), Butterflies & Hurricanes (solo), as well as Sunburn, Hoodoo, Soldier's Poem and Feeling Good. Since the May 2007 gig at Rockhal, Luxembourg, the digital piano's case has once again been replaced, this time by a black grand piano shell with a transparent acrylic lid. Inside the wing of the piano are MIDI-controlled lights that reflect onto the lid, producing an effect last seen on "The Dalek". It is important to note that this is not a real grand piano, but the same stage piano as used before, merely in a new case.

Since the start of the Resistance tour, Matt has used both the Upright and Grand Piano. For the live performances of Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever), Bellamy uses a Kawai ES-6.

For The 2nd Law and Drones Tours, the black grand piano case and the white upright case were refinished in chrome/silver, with the Chrome Grand first being seen at the London Olympic Closing Ceremony.

Since 2017 started, Matt has seemingly ceased using the Grand Piano live and instead uses just the Upright one.

For The Simulation Theory Tour in 2019, The Upright piano shell was replaced a new more simplistic black case, with a lower back to accommodate a synth on top for Algorithm, and features colour-changing LED's around the sides - matching the albums 80s and neon art style.

Synthesizers
In an interview with Keyboard Magazine Bellamy said that he's always had a liking for arpeggios since his first keyboard - a Roland Juno 60, which had a built in arpeggiator. This was first featured in Bliss and Screenager and has been even more prominent on Black Holes and Revelations (album). The album features a Buchla 200e modular synthesizer (which was purchased during the Miraval sessions in 2005).

Since the 2006 tour, in live performances these arpeggios are played using MIDI backing tracks via a MiniMoog Voyager RME. When Nicholls or Howard have nothing else to play they adjust the filter control of the synths to add color to the arpeggios.

In an XFM Exposure Interview, it became clear that it is Howard who has spearheaded the increased use of modular synthesisers on Black Holes and Revelations - he liked the idea of recording a whole disc of synthesised music. It is Howard who controls the synth's filter during live performances of Take a Bow, when Morgan Nicholls is not on stage. He has used a variety of synths including a Buchla, another MiniMoog Voyager (e.g Shepherd's Bush) and a bespoke modular sythesizer by Macbeth Studio Systems (e.g Reading Festival 2006), photographs can be seen on their web-site.

In 2018, Bellamy included an Arturia MatrixBrute to acompany his piano. He's using it to play the lead synth in Algorithm.

In an interview with Matt's in 2019, it was revealed that for the Simulation Theory World Tour, Matt's tech, alongside MIND Music Labs, Fishman and Arturia, built a custom-made Prophet V soft-synth system into his guitar. Bellamy has so far used the synth during The Dark Side's solo.

Wolstenholme's keyboards
During the Absolution tour Chris also occasionally used a Roland JP-8000 to play the intro to Time Is Running Out (early) and the string part of Blackout for which he also played Bellamy's Kawai.

Wolstenholme also played a pedal-board in some songs, for example the pad sound in Sing for Absolution.

For current Simulation Theory tours, Chris has also got a new custom Status Keyboard Bass, which includes, as the name implies, a keyboard built into the bass. The keyboard is connected via a wireless MIDI unit to Chris' tech's Apple MacBook, running Logic Pro X's MainStage software.

Nicholls' gear
The range of synthesiser parts used in Absolution meant that during the tour in support of it, the band began to use backing tracks in order to perform the songs in their entire nature. However, in the time leading up to the release of Black Holes and Revelations, Bellamy discussed how they had, as a band, decided to use a fourth live member from now on, to reduce the need for such backing tracks. This man is Morgan Nicholls, famed multi-instrumentalist. As befits a man of his enigma, Nicholls's gear remains something of mystery. His two keyboards can be identified as a Clavia Nord Modular G2 (responsible for the band's vocoder effects), and a Novation ReMOTE SL 61 MIDI controller. His Rack definitely contains a MiniMoog Voyager RME, an Electrix Filter Factory and an Electrix Mo-Fx MK2.
He is also using a Damge Control TimeLine and a Korg KP3.

He replaced his Novation kyeboard from Black Holes and Revalations era with the Kawai MP6 as his main keyboard during The Resistance era and has used it in the first few gigs of The 2nd Law era.

Furthermore he is using Logic and software instruments that he's playing live.

Since the first gig of The 2nd Law tour, he switched to the Novation Mininova for Vocooder effects and additional choirs on Survival and has also started using the Doepfer D3M keyboard. He is also using 2 iPads, one with the Liine Lemur software for easy acces to controlling the Logic software on stage and other with MainStage software for MIDI keyboard sounds.

During the Drones tour Morgan replaced the Novation Mininova with a Moog Sub37.

Alike Matt and Chris, Morgan uses a Kemper Profiling Amplifier (white) for touring. It is placed in rack, beside Chris' racks.
Similar to his Manson’s guitars, it’s probable that there are 2 Rigs for touring certain parts of the world, there are likely 2 models of this guitar. It was only used once for Knights of Cydonia at the Newport Centre on the Psycho UK Tour's third night. This guitar is an "improved and tweaked" continuation of the Cort MBC-1 and is produced in association with Cort, but under the Manson trademark. In terms of pricing and specifications, it is almost identical to the Cort MBC-1, with the only noticeable difference being the pickups, which have been slightly updated and now feature two humbuckers instead of a humbucker-single coil combination (also bearing similarities to the Manson Matt Black 3.0) and the electronics cavity in the back, which was routed larger as standard for easier modification purposes and the Manson Logo on the Headstock.

It's the first retail Matt Bellamy signature guitar with two humbuckers and the cheapest guitar sold by Manson.

The guitar was announced on January 12th 2020, with social media posts by Manson Guitars and Matt Bellamy. It was unveiled to the public for the first time a week later at the Winter NAMM Show 2020.

It is available in both Satin (Matte) Black and Starlight Silver (Matte-like Silver) - likely a homage to the high spec Manson DL-1 Matthew Bellamy Signature Guitars and similar finished Aluminium Manson's.

Matt also said in an interview with Guitar magazine that he was planning to take a bunch of the Meta Series on the next tour as they're a lot cheaper if he ends up smashing them on stage. (these will likely be slightly upgraded versions - Sustainiacs and possibly Gotoh hardware and the likes). This will show how similar to full spec Manson's the new Meta Series are, at a much lower price point and affordable for more fans.

Upgrade options
Manson Guitar Works offer the additional Sustainer install, replacing the neck pickup. As with the Cort MBC-1, more modification options are presumably going to be available in the future.
This guitar is similar to the Manson M1D1 Blue except that it features a built-in Whammy pedal, controlled by the X-Y Screen. The whammy can be played with no external midi needed. A demo video, posted on Manson Guitar Works' Instagram, can be seen here.

This guitar is likely the end result of the much speculated and rumoured Patented MID1 Manson featuring and inbuilt Whammy controller, though few thought it would be a Manson with an actual whammy pedal built into it.

The guitar, hardware wise, features standard tuning pegs, custom Manson aluminium tone and volume knobs and an alloy X-Y pad frame. The prototype also features an YES/NO switch for the Whammy, located at the lower horn. This YES/NO switch probably operates similar to those seen on other guitars - muting the main guitar signal from the strings until the whammy is activated. According to Tim Stark's post on MGW, " Touching the Screen also turned the guitar signal 'On' "

Touring
It is unknown at this time if it has been used live. It was would have been used exclusively for Break It To Me as the built-in Whammy allowed Bellamy to play the pitch-shifted solo without having to rely on a foot pedal, controlling the Whammy via the X-Y pad where it can go from -2 octaves to +2 octaves (or any other setting programmed) on the XY screen.

According to a reply in the comments on MGW's Facebook post with the new guitar, it was delivered to Matt and "used right at the end of the tour, it's constant development for us all, even mid tour!"
Although it doesn't seem to have actually been used on the tour.
