Analysis and Explanation

Nature_1 is the oldest song from the Origin of Symmetry era, dating back to a live debut sometime in 1996. It was performed very often during 1996/1997, so much so that it appears in every 1997 setlist known today aside from the December 1997 setlist. This heavily implies that the song was done at most gigs of the era. It made no known appearances in 1998, though little setlists from this year are available.

Nature_1 showed up again during November 1999 after being absent from the Showbiz tour thus far. There are two known performances from November 1999, though the actual number could be moderately higher as there are several unknown setlists from that time. When larger setlists began to be introduced in January 2000, Nature_1 was left out, only to appear at an acoustic gig in May and from there made a few appearances later in October and November before being dropped permanently from the setlists.

Though it has not been performed since 2000, the band apparently have not given up on performing the song as it was a setlist option for the 2017 Shepherds Bush Empire show.

Matt also played the intro briefly at the 2018 iHeartRadio album release party gig before Something Human.
