Background

One of the newest Mansons, Bellamy uses a heavily modified version of the Manson Oryx (as confirmed by Manson Guitar Works on their Instagram stories), with fanned frets, painted in all-white (including the neck), used for Won't Stand Down and Kill or be Killed, both off of Will of the People. This also marks the first new Manson guitar in a long time, to be used by Bellamy, which is not off of his signature model range. The Manson Oryx is a guitar line made for former Periphery bassist (mainly), guitarist (occasionally), producer/audio engineer, owner of GetGood Drums and multi-instrumentalist, Adam "Nolly" Getgood.

According to Bellamy, with the guitar having six strings and having a special dropped B tuning, the special fan-fretted fingerboard (being the first fan-fret on a Manson) helps string tension remain solid.

It looks as though a Sustainiac or Fernandez pickup was once installed, or due to be installed but never completed, going by the now removed Sustainiac controls, which can be seen to be partially filled in recent footage from Rock am Ring in June 2022.

Touring

The guitar was first seen in the studio, on Muse's Instagram/TikTok video, showing Bellamy playing Won't Stand Down.[1] It is unknown if the guitar was also used during the recording phase, as the song was recorded in early 2021, about a year prior to the official release of the Oryx.

Live, the guitar uses a special dropped B tuning, and is used for Won't Stand Down. It first appeared on the Exeter Cavern secret gig.
