Matthew Bellamy owns more than 50 Manson guitars, of which all were built by Hugh Manson (before 2009) except the Mirror Kaoss, Doubleneck, Keytar and Matt Black II and many more, which were built by Tim Stark. Hugh still makes guitars for Matt, but nowadays, most of the work is done by head luthier at Manson Guitar Works, Tim Stark. All of the guitars built for Bellamy, aside from the 7 String E Guitar, have a shape that he designed alongside Hugh Manson in 2001, dubbed Mattocaster or MB shape. The Mattocaster shape resulted from Bellamy wanting a guitar with "the body of a Fender Telecaster and the sound of a Gibson Les Paul".
The building was built in the early 20th century, between 1930 and 1932, and was designed by Robert Cromie in its distinct art deco style. When opened in 1932, it was known as "Gaumont Palace", a cinema, with the seating capacity of around 3,500. The building still holds an original Compton pipe organ, which was installed in 1932. In 1962, the venue was renamed to Hammersmith Odeon. Thirty years later, in 1990, the building became a Grade II listed building. During its existence, it's had a variety of owners, including Carling Brewery, HMV Group, Labbat Brewing Company, and, most recently AEG Live and Eventim UK.

As of June of 2019, Bellamy became the majority shareholder of Manson Guitar Works. He mentioned that in the following months and years, he and the team at Manson will work on bringing out lower cost M-Series guitars, investigating new products for heavier music genres (incl. 7 string guitars) and explore enchanced electronic features to evolve the guitar into the modern era of sound.
The venue has seen several iconic artists perform inside of it, including Buddy Holly, The Beatles (who played 38 shows over 21 nights), Queen (the performance of which was broadcast on BBC and released in 2015 on CD, vinyl and DVD/Blu-Ray as "A Night at the Odeon – Hammersmith 1975"), David Bowie (performing his final concert as Ziggy Stardust, with the performance available on DVD called "Ziggy Stardust & The Spiders From Mars"), Johnny Cash, Louis Armstrong, Black Sabbath and more.

Revision as of 22:11, 3 October 2022

A former cinema Eventim Apollo or Hammersmith Apollo (commonly known as Hammersmith Odeon, and formerly known, as a venue, as Carling Apollo, HMV Hammersmith Apollo and Labatt's Apollo), is an entertainment venue, located, as the name suggests, in the district of Hammersmith, in London, England. The art deco building holds a Grade II listing.

In 2022, Muse played two nights in a row for two charity concerts. The first one was a charity gig in support of War Child and Médecins Sans Frontières. The second one supported The Big Issue, with Razorlight being the opening band on the latter of the two shows.
