Performed somewhat often between 1996 and 1998, Host was dropped from setlists before 1999. A recording from 1997 of this song exists and is to date the only recording of the full song. There are no confirmed appearances of this song during the Showbiz tour though part of the song was soundchecked at the 05/21/2000 concert in Berlin. Most people assumed the band would never consider reviving such an old song.

Host was performed at every non-promotional gig between 10/16/2012 and 11/12/2012 as an intro to Time Is Running Out. Only the first half of the song was performed (before the "Sick of..." part begins, the song ends). It was an interesting throwback from the band and it was also the longest stretch between known performances (the last known performance was fifteen years prior). Why the band dug it out or why they ended performing it are unknown, but outside of Western Europe, it's unlikely many people even know Host exists, let alone what it sounds like. It would have been insignificant in places like the United States, where the band broke through at a much later time than in Europe.

There have been doubts that it counts as a full performance as it lacks Matt's vocals, but it may be the closest to a full performance that will occur for quite some time. A further intro performance came in 2018 at the [[Monterrey Parque Fundidora 2018 (gig) | Pa'l Norte Festival]] though Matt simply performed twenty seconds of the song instrumentally. This is not counted as a performance because of its short length and lack of any vocals, while the 2017 performances were longer and featured at least some vocal performance from Matt.

Analysis and Explanation

Performed somewhat often between 1996 and 1998, Host was dropped from setlists before 1999. A recording from 1997 of this song exists and is to date the only recording of the full song. There are no confirmed appearances of this song during the Showbiz tour though part of the song was soundchecked at the 05/21/2000 concert in Berlin. Most people assumed the band would never consider reviving such an old song.
