El Sardinero

Campos de Sport de El Sardinero, or El Sardinero as it's simply known as, is a multi-purpose stadium, located in the city of Santander, in the Cantabria region of Spain. Designed by architect Tim-Oliver Wagner and opened in 1988, it replaced the old Estadio El Sardinero, which was located on the land adjescent to it. It is the home to the Real Racing Club de Santander football club. The stadium's capacity is 22,222. It is owned by the Santander City Council and the Real Racing Club. It is located near the famous El Sardinero beaches, next to the Santander Sports Palace, Santander's Exhibition and Congress Palace, and the Parque de la Vaguada de las Llamas. The stadium has the third largest video scoreboards in France, 20 meters in length and 4 meters in height, only surpassed by those of the Estadio de Riazor and the Santiago Bernabéu.

The stadium's inaugural match was a friendly between Racing de Santander and Real Oviedo. A short time later, a match between Real Madrid CF and Everton F.C. was played on the stadium. The stadium also hosted matches of the Cantabrian football team and also some of the Spanish national football team, like a match between Belgium during the 2006 World Cup qualifications, and a preparational match between the U.S. football team before the Spanish went to Euro 2008. In 2013, the stadium hosted its first rugby matches; A División de Honor B match, between Independiente Rugby Club de Santander and Club Alcobendas Rugby, and a 2013 Copa del Rey rugby final, between the Valladolid Rugby Asociación Club and Ordizia Rugby Elkartea.
