While we know this gig was in 1995, it is uncertain as to whether it was as listed - that is in February - on the muse-official gig database.[2] Lockjaw Records manager Jack Turner recalled in 1995 that there were at least three gigs between 1995 and 1997 in the Bull and Gate.[1]
Muse's manager at the time, Phil Korthals, asked Tribute to Nothing for a support slot in London, after having supported Tribute to Nothing earlier in Exeter. Tribute to Nothing obliged and the gig became the first Muse played outside of Devon.[1]
To ensure they had an audience,[2] Muse payed for transport for themselves and their friends via coach from Exeter.[1] Jack Turner described the pub as having been "packed" during Muse's performance.[1] Also supporting was mod band "The Few", who performed between Muse and headliners Tribute to Nothing.[1]
