Assuming that it was one of those listed on the muse-official database and that Taste Media A&R manager Safta Jaffery's statements were accurate, this was a showcase organised by Dennis Smith for him.[1] It is the only date at the Cavern Club formerly listed on the aforementioned database which took place when the band's members were seventeen.

Resulting from this performance, Jaffery encouraged Smith to give Muse free recording time, from which came multiple demos. Jaffery thought each of these progressively better. The band was then signed to Taste Media, after which two EPs were released through Dangerous Records.[1]
